ACTS 1:15-16a // Fulfilment, all of it fulfilled

In those days Peter stood up among the believers (a group numbering about a hundred and twenty) and said, ‘Brothers and sisters, the Scripture had to be fulfilled …

“Careful, or you’ll break it”!” Imaging looking back over your life and being able to count all the things that came true. Things that other people spoke over your life and that actually happened. There’s probably loads; some good some not. Depending on how you count it, there are around 300-400 prophecies that were fulfilled in Jesus’s lifetime. Things he said, places he went, things he had control over and things he did not. Like, the place of his birth (Micah 5:2) or the journey to and return from Egypt (Hosea 11:1). Imagine Peters moment of remembering, “oh wait … Judas has to do what he did.” Knowing Peter, probably without too much thought, he stood up in front of the 120 gathered friends and declared truth. I wonder how many more moments of revelation there were? The scriptures did indeed have to be fulfilled and Jesus fulfilled them perfectly. The law had to be fulfilled and Jesus went beyond simple or ‘religious’ adherence to the letters. He took the law and loved and lived it. External obedience became heart motivation. All empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Question

Are the things you’re still waiting to see fulfilled in your life. What is holding you back from receiving and taking hold of them?

Prayer

God of fullness and perfection let me trust you. Quieten me and position me to receive every single promise you have spoken over my life.
